The Skelton Group provides high quality, modern and up-to-date plant, machinery and equipment for hire. We operate from two purpose built premises in East and West Kent servicing the agricultural, construction and domestic markets throughout Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex and London. We also offer national coverage to existing clients and bespoke contracts outside of the South East of England.

The company was founded in 1988 by the present day company director and owner, Tim Skelton, with one machine, a Bobcat 643 and Skelton Plant Hire has grown to be one of the leading plant and equipment rental companies in Kent.

“I started the business in a converted building on Stour Valley Business Park in Chartham. As business boomed we quickly outgrew our first building and moved into a larger building on the same site. A few years later as our expansion continued we then relocated into two purpose built facilities on CT3, a business park just outside Canterbury which Skelton Construction played a major part in building,” explained Tim.

2006 saw even further expansion for the company with the acquisition of a larger competitor and with it came a second depot in Paddock Wood in West Kent. Both of the depots are in prime locations with the best road and transport links, enabling Skelton Plant Hire to service Kent and its surrounding counties efficiently.

Today Skelton Plant Hire’s fleet consists of over 1350 items of leading brand excavators, telehandlers, dumpers, rollers and ancillary equipment, ensuring reliability to all its customers. The company believes that this reliability together with top quality service and knowledgable staff are paramount to the continuing success of the Group, guaranteeing every customer satisfaction from every hire.
